Book Review: Variant (Variant #1) by Robison Wells

From Goodreads: Benson Fisher thought that a scholarship to Maxfield Acadmey would be the ticket out of his dead-end life. He was wrong. Now he’s trapped in a school that’s surrounded by a razor-wire fence, where video cameras monitor his every move and where breaking the rules equals death. All Benson wants is to find a way out. But when he stumbles upon the real secret the school has been hiding, he realises that escape may be impossible.

Thanks to Elle who recommended this book and actually I’ve been seeing this book at Kinokuniya a lot. I just don’t want to pay 20 bucks for a book. Paperback no less. Nu-uh. And I don’t even know if this book was worth it or not. Until I went to Periplus Exhibit. They had this 30% off deal. And Bam! I got this book for $2. Whoopa! The book not really in the best condition though. The cover was scratched and dog-eared, the edges are lil bit dirty. But the pages are all fine. It didn’t falling out and all intact. So I said, “Why Not?” It will be like adopting an ugly dog at the shelter instead of the cute ones. LOL I know I’m silly but hey its cheap books and my arms are always open for that.

Anyway, this book is worth it. I can’t even tell you without spoiling the book. (I’ll try to not) So this is about a boarding school where no one ever leave. Like EVER. No teachers, no staff, it just all the students who runs this school. Benson the rebellion boy he is, started to find out why no one ever wanted to escape from that school? What’s with the weird rules? And the reason why they all there?

This book is one of those when you can’t even guess what’s going to happen next. Even when you thought its over, nu-uh it will twist the knife even deeper and you would go “HOW? WHY?” “WTF?”

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars. If you like this kind of rebellion story you should give it a try 😉 Can’t wait to delve into the second book.

See you guys later, bye!
