Book Review: Angelfall (Penryn & the End of Days #1) by Susan Ee

10349594_674196032627856_2084508988_n Angelfall is book about post-apocalyptic world where the angels descended to destroy the new world. Seventeen-year-old girl, Penryn, and her family got themselves in a middle of warrior angels fights that got her little sister taken by the angel. Leave Raffe, the broken and wingless warrior angel, on the street. She has no choice, but help Raffe in order to get her little sister back.
Angelfall is part of series called ‘Penryn & the End of Days’. The second book already out November last year and the Third book expected to come out next year.

I saw a lot of people raving on this book on booktube community. Then I saw this book on bargain section on Periplus.com (seriously, Periplus and their amazing deals has been my ultimate books supplier lately). So, why not buy it? I usually shy away from Fallen Angel type of stories. Its usually this cheesy romance about this human falling in love with that beautiful angel, the plot either too similar with Twilight or too much cheese that would clogged me up.

I could not get any more wrong. And I’m glad that I did.

I’m totally went on blind on this book. I didn’t read the blurb or not even looking up on Goodreads. Well I did, but only to see the rates, and it was pretty good. That was what makes me pick up the book. The minute I started reading I was surprise because all this time I had this idea in my head that the ‘Angel’ was a girl. LOL I have no idea why I pictured the Angel was gonna be a girl. Move along.  I immediately hooked. I think it was well-paced. The action pack was great. Penryn is badass. Not the type of regular girl turn to be badass because of the demanding situation. But she actually is.  Also the witty banter between Penryn and Raffe is hilarious. They are great on their own, but together they are an awesome pair. I definitely root for them. I don’t know. This book somehow remind me of Mac and Baron from the Fever series. I feel exactly the same when I read that series. Scared, thrill, sad, and laugh because of Penryn smart mouth.

Will I recommend this book? Absolutely, especially to those who love action-pack story, definitely have to pick this one up. Don’t let the tittle fooled you. I can’t wait to read the second book.

Rate: 4 out of 5 stars. Enjoyed it, loved it, my favorite from the series so far.
